6: REAL MADRID had a throw in, taken by HERNANDEZ. His short throw found GONZALES who returned the ball under pressure from HESKEY. HERNANDEZ took the ball inside and played a searching ball forward. RAVANELLI knocked the ball on. The ball came straight to the feet of ELLIOTT who cleared the ball with venom, making sure it would clear the danger area.
12: REAL MADRID's JARNI passed to SEEDORF who quickly knocked it on to an unmarked PETKOVIC who started a sprint for goal. His brave run ended with a fine cross toward the waiting head of HIERRO. It took a deflection but FLOWERS had plenty of time to adjust and he got his whole body behind the ball to catch it.
25: DENILSON and MCBRIDE collided in midfield and the ball ran loose to a surprised GONZALES He took up the attack for REAL MADRID. He side-stepped DMYTRULIN without any trouble, slotted a perfectly weighted ball past ELLIOTT to JARNI who took it nicely, dribbled into the box and poked a shot at goal before ACtJNA could close him down. Grief-stricken LEICESTER CITY fans watch silently as FLOWERS'S fantastic dive was beaten by the pace of the ball. GOAL!
37: LEICESTER CITY's DENILSON played a superb chip over GONZALES and HIERRO to release AIMAR on the break. He took it to the edge of the area unopposed and squared the ball across the face of the goal. HESKEY got the better of CARLOS and it was his outstretched foot that sent the ball goalward. CHILAVERT saw it late but the shot was straight at him and he collected th ball easily in his arms.
44: REAL MADRID's SEEDORF played a superb ball between AIMAR and ARCE to release GONZALES on the break. He thought he'd made it when ACtJNA slid in and brought him down in the penalty area. The Referee waved the protesting players away and pointed to the penalty spot.
45: RAVANELLI placed the ball on the spot and stepped back to take the shot. He kicked to thi right, the goalie dived the opposite way and the ball sailed in for a GOAL!
55: A long ball from the REAL MADRID defence was intercepted by IZZET, but a beautifully timed tackle by PETKOVIC sent the ball spinning into the path of RAVANELLI who made his way toward the LEICESTER CITY goal. RAVANELLI played a quick one-two with GONZALES and then slotted the ball through for HERNANDEZ who then started to make a run between ELLIOTT and ACtJNA who simply raised their hands and the ref blew for offside to the vocal disgust of the REAL MADRID supporters.
60: LEICESTER CITY made a substitution: LENNON came on for WILSON.
64: A long pass by SEEDORF (of REAL MADRID) from midfield was quickly brought under control by RAVANELLI who then made a dash for goal. His brave run ended with a fine cross toward the waiting head of HIERRO. It was a pathetic effort that bounced harmlessly into the side netting, much to the relief of the LEICESTER CITY fans.
70: LEICESTER CITY made a substitution: MORIENTES came on for MCBRIDE.
78: A long pass by HIERRO (of REAL MADRID) from midfield was quickly brought under control b' PETKOVIC who then made a dash for goal. PETKOVIC lobs the ball into the area, only to be cleared for a throw, by ACIJNA. RAVANELLI launches a throw deep into the heart of LEICESTER CITY's area. The ball is flicked on into the six yard box, where it is poorly cleared by DMYTRULIN to the edge of the area where GONZALES takes the ball beautifully on his chest and half-volleys the ball through a packed area. FLOWERS's cat-like reactions saved the ball from going in but he could not hold it and it went behind for a corner. This prompted the LEICESTER CITY fans into a chorus of "There's only one FLOWERS".
79: PETKOVIC took REAL MADRID's corner, curving the ball into the area. ARCE was all over GONZALES but he was able to hold the defending player at bay and scramble to the ball first t send it goalwards. The effort was poor. As soon as he had hit it the goalkeeper held his arms out indicating it was going wide. This prompted the LEICESTER CITY fans into shouting "AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! in mockery.
