12: SEEDORF (of REAL MADRID) neatly side-stepped BARJUAN and released EDGAR on a forward run. He turned inside to pass to DELGADO but BARCELONA's REIZIGER was quick to close him down and unfairly knocked him off the ball. The Referee gave REAL MADRID an indirect free kick. The ball was launched into BARCELONA's area but their defence were able to deal with it comfortably.
19: A midfield situation turned into an attack as REAL MADRID's SAVIO made a fast sprint toward goal. On his heels were GONZALES and HIERRO leaving BARCELONA's RIVALDO a problem on who to chase. SAVIO lobs the ball into the area, only to be cleared for a throw, by CARLO. DELGADO launches a throw deep into the heart of BARCELONA's area. The ball is flicked on into the six yard box, where it is poorly cleared by REIZIGER to the edge of the area where EDGAR takes the ball beautifully on his chest and half-volleys the ball through a packed area. The goalie was in the right position and comfortably caught the ball.
23: DELGADO (of REAL MADRID) received a square pass from EDGAR and then made a quick break up the right. Once he'd avoided a lunging challenge from BAKERO he knocked the ball back into EDGAR's path who then cut inside to carry on toward the BARCELONA goal. He saw GONZALES making a fine run and slotted a brilliant ball through toward him but the linesman's flag was up for offside against RAVANELLI.
33: RAVANELLI (of REAL MADRID) made a long pass right across the pitch which was received on the chest by EDGAR who turned to attack BARCELONA's qoal. He played an intelligent ball to DELGADO on the far side who was soon closed down by BARJUALN. A smooth flick into the path of SAVIO who'd made a great run into space created the chance REAL MADRID were looking for and he unleashed a shot. The goalie managed to tip the ball with his fingers but the power of the shot carried it onto the bottom of the crossbar and it bounced down over the line for a GOAL!
41: A midfield situation turned into an attack as REAL MADRID's GONZALES made a fast sprint toward goal. The REAL MADRID fans roared with rage when he was roughly brought down from behind by a clumsy CARLO. CARLO hung his head low as the Referee pulled out the yellow card. BARCELONA conceded an indirect free kick.
42: REAL MADRID had a free kick, which SEEDORF took. He lobbed it over to SAVIO who seemed a bit surprised. BAKERO intercepted, but before he could bring the ball under control SAVIO had woken up and just did enough to slide the ball to RAVANELLI who continued the attack. He saw VITOR making a fine run and slotted a brilliant ball through toward him but the linesman's flag was up for offside against TAGGART.

60: GONZALES's sudden run from midfield ended with a cross which was deflected on its way into the box by BAKERO who had tried to cut it out. With BARJUAN jostling with him DELGADO kept his footing as the ball landed perfectly for a volley. The goalie dived, but in vain and the REAL MADRID fans went crazy. GOAL!
73: REAL MADRID's defence cleared to EDGAR who's first touch put SEEDORF on the attack. He passed to SAVIO who's dummy saw GONZALES break past a sluggish defence. However, the linesman's flag was raised for offside much to GONZALES's dismay. The REAL MADRID fans started a rather unpleasant chant about the referee
80: REAL MADRID made a substitution: HELGUERA came on for DELGADO.
80: BARCELONA made a substitution: COCU off, LUIS ENRIQUE on.
85: BARCELONA had a throw in, taken by REIZIGER. His short throw found GARCIA who returned the ball under pressure from SAVIO. REIZIGER took the ball inside and played a searching ball forward. It was a great ball which KLUIVERT got to first with a diving header. CHILAVERT just got his hand to it but couldn't stop it going in. GOAL!
