6: DOMORAUD poorly cleared from defence, needlessly giving the ball away to set REAL MADRID on the attack. RAVANELLI took up the pace and slotted an early ball into the box. Both RONALDOand GONZALES leapt for the ball but it was RONALDO who got a touch to it, managing to nod the ball safely into the arms of his goalie.
16: DELGADO (of REAL MADRID) made a long pass right across the pitch which was received on the chest by EDGAR who turned to attack INTER MILAN's goal. RAVANELLI was still in the INTER MILAN half after picking himself up after the crunching tackle by DOMORAUD. Further upfield EDGAR played a clever through ball to GONZALES, beating the offside trap. Even though the straying REAL MADRID player was not interfering with play, he was stood still with his arms raised, the referee blew for offside. The REAL MADRID players and fans were incensed by the decision and the REAL MADRID captain went over to the referee to remind him of the offside rules.
21: REAL MADRID's JARNI sent GONZALES away on a run with a great through-ball which totally baffled the defence. GONZALES neatly side stepped to avoid a flying two footed tackle by GEORGATOS. He then ran at BLANC making the player back track to cover and just before BAGGIO came to assist his team mate, he launched a powerful shot at goal. The goalie managed to tip the ball with his fingers but the power of the shot carried it onto the bottom of the crossba2 and it bounced down over the line for a GOAL!
29: ORLANDO received a short pass from VIERI, turned, took it past SEEDORF and as the INTER MILAN fans roared finished with a cross into the area. It was a sloppy ball and it found REAL MADRID's HIERRO who easily intercepted and cleared it to safety.
36: ORLANDO and HIERRO rose to meet a long kick from REAL MADRID's goalie. ORLANDO managed tc get his head to the ball but couldn't direct it. The ball fell invitingly for SEEDORF and REAl MADRID were back on the attack. He dribbled at speed past DOMORAUD and delivered a beautiful ball across the field to JARNI, who's first touch stunned the ball and second touch sent the ball screeching toward the INTER MILAN goal. The goalie got a hand to it but succeeded only ir pushing onto the inside of the post and into the net for a GOAL!

51: INTER MILAN's GEORGATOS delivered a long throw-in toward RONALDO. SEEDORF's challenge was clumsy but the Referee waved play on as RONALDO set off on a twisty-turny run toward the box. RONALDO lobs the ball into the area, only to be cleared for a throw, by HIERRO. ORLANDO launches a throw deep into the heart of REAL MADRID's area. The ball is flicked on into the six yard box, where it is poorly cleared by VITOR to the edge of the area where VIERI takes the ball beautifully on his chest and half-volleys the ball through a packed area. KELLER was off his line and the ball looped over his flailing arms and into the net. GOAL!
65: A long pass by HIERRO (of REAL MADRID) from midfield was quickly brought under control by DELGADO who then made a dash for goal. He was checked by BLANC but saw that JARNI had made a swift run toward goal so he played a looping ball into his path. INTER MILAN's defence moved up in unison looking for the offside but the linesman's flag stayed down which left JARNI with only the goalie to beat as he struck the ball with venom. It swerved viciously through the aix and PERUZZI saw it too late to react. GOOOOOAAAL!
75: REAL MADRID made a substitution: JARNI off, SAVIO on.

79: A midfield situation turned into an attack as REAL MADRID's QUIQUE made a fast sprint toward goal. On his heels were HIERRO and SEEDORF leaving INTER MILAN's ORLANDO a problem on who to chase. He did some neat footwork to get past BLANC and his pace was enough to get him past MEZZANO, taking it almost to the edge of the area before shooting. It was a pathetic effort that bounced harmlessly into the side netting, much to the relief of the INTER MILAN fans.
86: INTER MILAN's DI BIAGIO made a long pass to BAGGIO who then neatly turned SAVIO who was marking him and ran towards goal releasing the ball to VIERI, who had stormed up field in support from behind, hoping his momentum would unsteady the REAL MADRID's defence. VIERI played a quick one-two with RONALDO and then slotted the ball through for ORLANDO who then started to make a run between CARLOS and QUIQUE who simply raised their hands and the ref blew for offside to the vocal disgust of the INTER MILAN supporters.
