Looking over he could see that EDGAR had reached the edge of the box so he flicked an inch-perfect ball toward him. Leaning into DEHU, EDGAR swung wildly at the ball and managed to let rip a surprisingly good volley. Grief-stricken MARSEILLE fans watch silently as LOPETEGUI's fantastic dive was beaten by the pace of the ball. GOAL!
20: MARSEILLE's goalie launched the ball up field which was first headed by SEEDORF and then EDGAR, before PIRES stole in and took the ball and put his team on the offensive. He hadn't got very far before he found himself unfairly body-checked by REAL MADRID's GONZALES and he stumblid awkwardly to the ground. The Referee gave MARSEILLE an indirect free kick. The ball was launched into REAL MADRID's area but REAL MADRID's goalkeeper rose above all the players to claim it with ease.
26: MARSEILLE's BAKAYOKO made a sudden break from midfield that took him deep into the REAL MADRID half. He looked up, dummied inside and let loose a cross into the area. KAREMBEU flicked it on with his head, only to see MAURICE rise and knock it goalward. It hit the crossbar and bounced down and in, leaving FETTIS shaking his head in disbelief and the MARSEILLE fans roaring with delight. GOAL!
35: MARSEILLE's defence cleared to ECHOUAFNI who's flick on put REDONDO on the attack. He easily got past a sluggish HIERRO, slowed down to take aim but was brought down from behind by a rough tackle from REAL MADRID's SALGADO. The Referee gave MARSEILLE an indirect free kick, but nothing came of it and REAL MADRID's defence were able to clear the ball away with ease.
39: REAL MADRID's HIERRO beat REDONDO to a long kick from the goalie. EDGAR was still in the MARSEILLE half after picking himself up after the crunching tackle by DEHU. Further upfield HIERRO played a clever through ball to RAVANELLI, beating the offside trap. Even though the straying REAL MADRID player was not interfering with play, he was stood still with his arms raised, the referee blew for offside. The REAL MADRID players and fans were incensed by the decision and the REAL MADRID captain went over to the referee to remind him of the offside rules.

54: EDGAR sets KAREMBEU on his way with a superb pass. He gets to the by-line and pulls the ball back without looking up to check for support.It found RAVANELLI who tried to shoot but BERIZZG tackled him cleanly and cleared the ball to BRANDO to snuff out the attack.
58: ECHOUAFNI tried to hold the ball up on the halfway line but was caught in possession by ~ crunching tackle from RAVANELLI sending him tumbling to the ground. The crowd roared but the Referee waved play-on as JARNI took control and sent EDGAR on a dangerous run. He took it to the edge of the area unopposed and squared the ball across the face of the goal. SEEDORF got the better of BERIZZO and it was his outstretched foot that sent the ball goalward. Grief-Etricken MARSEILLE fans watch silently as LOPETEGUI's fantastic dive was beaten by the pace of the ball. GOAL!

76: PIRES
tried to hold the ball up on the halfway line but was caught in possession
by a crunching tackle from EDGAR sending him tumbling to the ground. The
crowd roared but the Referee waved play-on as JARNI took control and sent
KAREMBEU on a dangerous run. He played intelligent ball to QUIQUE on the
far side who was soon closed down by REDONDO. A smooth fbi into the path
of RAVANELLI who'd made a great run into space created the chance REAL
MADRID were looking for and he unleashed a shot. The MARSEILLE fans showed
their appreciation as their goalie did a superb dive and cleanly caught
the ball.
