5: PERROTTA took the ball past CARLOS, did a neat one-two, with ZALAYETA to get past HIERRO along the right wing and finished a great run with a cross into the area. MUNOZ NANDO lashed at the ball. BIZZARRI stood dumbstruck as the ball smacked the crossbar and crashed down towards the goal line and bounced out to be scrambled away. The JUVENTUS players were adamant the ball was over the line. The referee waved them away. Play continued.
13: RAMPULLA rolled the ball out to his nearest defender who turned and passed to RUSSO. He drew QUIQUE toward him and then sent CHIVAROLI away down the right, who took it forward and then crossed. The ball was knocked behind by McMANAMAN. ZALAYETA took the corner. He swung it in to the near post with venom. The keeper just managed to react with a outstretched fist and SEEDORF cleared the ball.
22: JUVENTUS’s defence poorly cleared the ball and it fell nicely for REAL MADRID’s CARLOS. His silky-smooth skills took him past JUVENTUS’s ZALAYETA but a careless elbow from GHIVAROLI knocked him to the ground to end his great run. He quickly got up and turned to confront CHIVAROLI and a little pushing and shoving match followed. The Referee eventually broke them up, waved CARLOS away while he had a quiet word with CHIVAROLI. The crowd jeered as a protesting CHIVAROLI was given the yellow card. REAL MADRID were awarded a direct free kick but it was a wild shot that was easily cleared to safety by JUVENTUS’s defence.
31: JUVENTUS’s defence cleared to CHIVAROLI who’s flick on put PERROTTA on the attack. He played a fine ball through the gap toward IULIANO but he’d wandered offside.
36: A midfield situation turned into an attack as JUVENTUS’s ZALAYETA made a fast sprint toward goal. On his heels were CHIVAROLI and PERROTTA leaving REAL MADRID’s HIERRO a problem on who to chase. He passed to PESSOTTO who’s dummy saw RUSSO break past a sluggish defence. However, the linesman’s flag was raised for offside much to’ RUSSO’s dismay. The JUVENTUS fans started a rather unpleasant chant about the referee.

55: A midfield situation turned into an attack as REAL MADRID’s GONZALES made a fast sprint toward goal. He saw QUIQUE making a fine run and slotted a brilliant ball through toward him but the linesman’ s flag was up for offsides against McMANAMAN.
66: REAL MADRID’s goalie Thunched the ball up field which was first headed by RUSSO and then CHIVAROLI, before McMANAMAN stole in and took the ball and put his team on the offensive. His moment of glory came to an abrupt end with a carelessly performed slide from OLISEH and he was sent crashing to the deck. The stadium fell strangely quiet~ as the referee reached into his pocket. He seemed to be producing the yellow card, but to the delight of the opposition supporters, he proceeded to produce and show the RED card to OLISEH. The player turned away in utter disgust and made his way towards the changing rooms while his team mates surrounded the referee in protest. REAL MADRID were awarded a direct free kick but it was a wild shot that was easily cleared to safety by JUVENTUS’s defence.
74: McMANAMAN and PESSOTTO rose to meet a long kick from JUVENTUS’s goalie. McMANAMAN managed to get his head to the ball but couldn’t direct it. The ball fell invitingly for PERROTTA and JUVENTUS were back on the attack. He turned inside to pass to CHIVAROLI but REAL MADRID’s CASTILLO was quick to close him down and unfairly knocked him off the ball. JUVENTUS were awarded a direct free kick. It was taken quickly but ended up safely in the hands of REAL MADRID’ s goalkeeper.
75: REAL MADRID made a substitution: MORIENTES off, ANELKA on.
83: The opposing fans were embroiled in a chanting slanging match. Mean
while REAL MADRID’s keeper had thrown the ball to HIERRO who then
knocked it on to QUIQUE, who neatly chested it down, turned, and ran straight
at the back tracking PESSOTTO. He held the ball up, waiting for support,
and before MIRKOVIC could close him down he played a square ball into the
path of GONZALES. The crowd could sense something was about to happen and
the noise rose to deafening levels. GONZALES dummied the ball cockily past
TACCHINARDI and crossed a fine ball in toward the JUVENTUS box. ANELKA
showed a great turn of speed to get to the ball first and slotted a tentative
ball at goal. The goalie never got close and was left face down in the
dirt as it slammed into the back of the net for a tremendous GOAL!
