3: LEEDS UNITED's goalie booted the ball up the field which GRANVILLE brought under control and turned to attack. His brave run ended with a fine cross toward the waiting head of OKAN. JORGENSEN had come out to close the angle but the power of the shot was too much for him and it hit the inside of the post. GOAL!
13: LEEDS UNITED's goalie launched the ball up field which was first headed by THOMSEN and then ROSENGREN, before KEWELL stole in and took the ball and put his team on the offensive. KRISTENSEN crashed into him but he kept his feet and passed to ANELKA. He took the ball wide, shrugged off a challenge from FACIUS and crossed into the box. AALBORG's goalie punched the ball away under pressure but it fell invitingly for GRANVILLE and he volleyed the ball goalward. The goalie had closed the angle down and managed to tip the ball over the crossbar
14: ANELKA took the corner and delivered a vicious in-swinger. It was a long ball and GRANVILLE drew away from his marker to head the ball goalward. It was a difficult shot which caused the goalie to parry the ball rather than catch it. Luckily for AALBORG it fell for THORST who took the ball safely out of danger.
35: A midfield situation turned into an attack as LEEDS UNITED's ANELKA made a fast sprint toward goal. BTJRUK was still in the AALBORG half after picking himself up after the crunching tackle by MADSEN. Further upfield ANELKA played a clever through ball to OKAN, beating the offside trap. Even though the straying LEEDS UNITED player was not interfering with play, he was stood still with his arms raised, the referee blew for offside. The LEEDS UNITED players and fans were incensed by the decision and the LEEDS UNITED captain went over to the referee to remind him of the offside rules.
HALF-TIME: 0-1
50: AALBORG's goalie booted the ball up the field which THORST brought under control and turned to attack. He took the ball easily past KORKMAZ and released a short ball to DISSING. His flick found THORST again but as he tried to turn, LEEDS UNITED's BULENT slid in viciously and sent him tumbling to the ground. The crowd jeered their protests at BULENT as he and the Referee exchanged words. The crowd knew what was coming as did the protesting players. The Referee ignored them, reached for the red card and sent BULENT off. AALBORG were given a direct free kick.
51: The AALBORG bench were screaming at the referee to get the LEEDS UNITED wall the full 10 yards back. Once this was done the bench settled down and KRUGER was able to continue with taking the free kick. KRUGER chipped it elegantly over the wall and into the waiting hands of MARTYN, the well-placed LEEDS UNITED goalkeeper!
57: LEEDS UNITED's GRANVILLE handled the ball, giving away a free kick. FACIUS (of AALBORG) quickly took it and sent BACH away down the left toward goal. He passed to THORST who's dummy saw DISSING break past a sluggish defence. However, the linesman's flag was raised for offside much to DISSING's dismay. The AALBORG fans started a rather unpleasant chant about the referee
62: LEEDS UNITED made a substitution: KERIMOGLU off, BRIDGES on.
64: THOMSEN and THORST collided in midfield and the ball ran loose to a surprised BRIDGES. He took up the attack for LEEDS UNITED. The fans were now beginning to really make some noise as BRIDGES played a clever back-heel to ANELKA who, despite the close attention of MADSEN, quickly released the ball for GRANVILLE who seemed to have timed his run between FACIUS and BOYE to perfection but the referee's assistant raised his flag and the ref blew for offside.
72: A long pass by THORST (of AALBORG) from midfield was quickly brought under control by BACH who then made a dash for goal. Before he could release the ball BRIDGES had raced across the pitch and ploughed into him with a tackle so late the crowd had gone home! The Referee called BRIDGES over to talk to him. The crowd jeered as a protesting BRIDGES was given the yellow card. AALBORG were awarded an indirect free kick.
73: BACH quickly took AALBORG's free kick passing to an unmarked DISSING who took advantage of an off-guard BATTY and made a dash toward the box. He slotted a great ball past ANELKA to find ROSENGREN on the overlap. ROSENGREN took the ball almost to the touchline and under pressure from KORKIVIAZ delivered a dangerous ball into the LEEDS UNITED area. WOODGATE leapt to meet it but he didn't connect too well and it fell invitingly for THORST who just had time to poke the ball at goal. The goalie was too slow to react and the ball found it's way mercilessly to the back of the net. The LEEDS UNITED defence looked on in disbelief. GOAL! 82: LEEDS UNITED made a substitution: BAKKE came on for BRIDGES.
